Evaluation 3

What kind of media institution might distribute your product?

Our film ‘Killer Romance ‘made by ‘Red Tie Pictures’ which is a mainstream company, would be distributed a company such as Sony (As they distribute many action films including spectre) through mainstream cinemas such as Odeon and Cineworld in the UK and some parts of europe. As we plan to have big studio involvement and have A-list cast, it would be relevant to distribute this way. We have decided to do this for several reasons. Firstly, we can use the large funds which come with a large conglomerate to distribute our film into mainstream cinemas. A large conglomerate which we would like to distribute our film is Sony. This is because they own a large share in Blu-ray. This means that we could maximise our profits by offering our customers to buy our film in Blu-ray. If we did this, we would release our film in Blu-ray before any other platform release accept cinema. By doing this we will get more money out of our customers as Blu-ray is more expensive to buy than DVD or digital. If Sony are unable to distribute our film we would like 20th century fox to distribute our film. This is because a film very similar to ours,' Mr and Mrs Smith' was distributed by them which got them a box office of $478.2 million.

Secondly by distributing our film through mainstream cinemas it will attract our target audience of couples aged 16 to mid-20’s as many of them go on dates together and a very popular choice for those dates is the cinema.

We will limit our distribution with a large conglomerate to the UK and Europe only. This is because just like ex machine, we believe that our film will not do so well in other countries such as America. As our target audience as well as the films location is based in the UK. For this reason, we will be distributing to some countries like America with independent distributes such as A24. This means countries that we are not going to distribute mainstream will still be able to watch our film but will need to go to a independent cinema to watch the film.
